What to Grill for Any Time of the Day

Don’t wait until the evening to fire up the grill! Check out these ideas for all 3 meals, dessert, and even grilled drinks to go with them!

Memorial Weekend is just around the corner, and that means grilling season is officially here! At The Landing at Briarcliff we have some fantastic new grills in our poolside grilling and dining area, but no matter where you’re grilling this season do more than just burgers and dogs, and more than just dinner! Make the most of the warm weather and spend as much time outdoors as possible by grilling breakfast, lunch, and dinner – not to mention dessert and drinks! Read on for inspiration and try something new out this weekend!

Breakfast

If you’ve ever gone camping you know that most foods taste better when cooked over an open flame, and breakfast is no exception! If you have a griddle or cast iron skillet you could make classics like eggs and pancakes, but with just slight modifications you won’t need any extra expensive equipment! You can grill bacon (especially thicker cut) directly on the grill, then get some skewers and try out these Grilled French Toast Kebabs to go with the bacon! You can even put a grilled twist on a classic brunch drink with this Grilled Gazpacho Bloody Mary!

Lunch

If you’re spending all day outside you don’t want to have to come inside for lunch! You also probably want something lighter but filling enough to give you enough energy to last to dinner. That’s where the humble sandwich comes in! Growing up there’s a good chance you had peanut butter and jelly or deli meat sandwiches in between bouts of swimming or playground activities, so add a more grown-up twist on childhood favorites by grilling them! For example, this Grilled Cubano Sandwich is the perfect complement to several hours in the sun, especially paired with Grilled Lemon Limeade (add a splash of vodka or rum for the adults)!

Dinner

There’s nothing wrong with ending a long day in the sun with some grilled burgers and dogs, but even these classics can get old if you’re eating them multiple times a week. This summer step out of your comfort zone and try something new on the grill for dinner! Think about different proteins, or even meatless options like this Memphis-Style Dry-Rub BBQ Tofu! Grill all your sides, or the different components of a side in the case of salads. Add some char and smoke to your favorite cocktail, too, like this Grilled Pineapple Mai Tai.

Dessert

If you’ve grilled everything so far, don’t stop with dessert! If you’re wanting to go a healthier route, there are many fruits in season that would be perfect for the grill. Melons and stone fruit especially are great, just make sure to keep the pieces large enough that they don’t fall through the grates! If you’re wanting something more decedent or reminiscent of childhood you could try these Smores Hand Pies. Want to drink your dessert? Try this Grilled Peach Bourbon Smash as a nightcap to a wonderful day outdoors.
